ENDOWMENT
The York Suburban Dollars for Scholars has donations and income of over $650,000. Over $250,000 in scholarships has been awarded to York Suburban students. About $474,000 has been deposited in the York County Community Foundation, http://www.yccf.org/dollars_for_scholars.asp, for the Endowment Fund which will provide future stability and a perpetual funding source. The Community Foundation provides investment advice and guidance. Remaining funds are invested in certificates of deposit and money market funds.
Over sixty students have benefited from the program's scholarships. The program's expenses are very low since most expenses are paid by volunteers. Expenses paid by the program are mainly tax filings and audit fees. The York Suburban Dollars for Scholars program qualifies as a 501 (c) non-profit organization. Donations may be tax deductible. Donations may be given as a lump-sum payment,appreciated stock or property, or bequests in your will or in your estate plan. Groups may also submit donations they receive from their own fund raising events.
